NASA AeroSpace Environmental Impact Traveling Exhibit Bus

AeroSpace Environmental Impact Traveling
Exhibit Bus
NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) uses an AeroSpace Bus for outreach
activities at schools, fairs, air shows, and other events. The Aero-Bus
is operated with biodiesel fuel - Both the fuel tank and stationary
generator.
Todd Strawser, Fuels Specialist and Pollution Prevention Team member,
has spearheaded a drive for alternative fuel use at GRC. Other vehicles
also powered by biodiesel: Our truck fleet, front end loaders, street
cleaners, salt trucks, etc.
Our biodiesel is made from soybeans – organic,
renewable, and clean. Emissions are reduced 10-20% for carbon monoxide,
hydrocarbons,
and particulate matter. The mix for the Aero-Bus is 20-30% biodiesel
and 70-80% low sulfur diesel, but test vehicles have been run at
100% biodiesel with no problem.
