Biodiesel boasts biggest game in town

National Biodiesel Conference & Expo kicks off Superbowl Sunday

GRAPEVINE, Texas -  The Saints and Colts may have the field in Florida tonight, but in Texas the biodiesel game is the one to watch. Kicking off today, the National Biodiesel Conference & Expo will feature its own version of exciting new plays, MVP appearances, strong starting lineup, and a guaranteed sure bet for clean energy.

"Biodiesel has the best energy balance and the best greenhouse gas reduction of any fuel that is currently in the commercial marketplace and is the only advanced biofuel that has reached commercialization in the US," said National Biodiesel Board CEO Joe Jobe. "If you want to pick a sustainable, clean energy winner today and all days, biodiesel is a sure bet."

Exciting New Plays
This week's conference will showcase industry announcements that will impact tens of thousands of customers nationwide. Look for news that moves the ball up the field in support of this renewable fuel. For a complete schedule of media events visit: http://nbblink.org/21.

Strong Starting Lineup
Kicking off today's action is a stellar lineup of the latest and greatest clean diesel cars and trucks powered by biodiesel, offered from manufacturers such as General Motors, Ford and Volkswagen. Auto company representatives are on-hand today at a premier ride-and-drive event at the Classic Clean Fuels station in Grapevine to talk about their increasing support for the use of biodiesel blends in their vehicles.

MVP Appearances
Just as today's game brings out the big wigs and champions, the conference is the place to see industry greats from top to bottom, old and new. Hear from local biodiesel MVPs, "astonishingly accurate" economist Don Reynolds, and industry experts from feedstock to engine. The conference also features the industry's annual Eye on Biodiesel awards to recognize biodiesel champions.

Guaranteed Clean Energy Bet
Biodiesel is a cleaner burning alternative fuel, produced from domestic, renewable resources. There are significant job creation, energy security and environmental benefits associated with expanded biodiesel use.

Biodiesel has been in the spotlight recently as President Obama and his administration last week detailed efforts to build a new clean energy economy. Among measures to boost biofuels production, the Environmental Protection Agency finalized a rule to implement the long-term renewable fuels standard of 36 billion gallons by 2022. The EPA guidelines identify biodiesel as an advanced biofuel and require 1.15 billion gallons of biodiesel be used domestically by the end of 2010.

The National Biodiesel Conference is held at the Gaylord Texan. For more, visit www.biodieselconference.org.
